Chamber forum slated for Oct. 23

AMERICUS — Citizens Bank of Americus presents Sumter County “State of Education” from 5:30-8 p.m. Oct. 23 in the Pope Technology Center, South Georgia Technical College.
The Education Division of the Sumter County Chamber of Commerce announces the second annual State of Education Dinner, an event that serves as a public forum for citizens, business and industry leaders to hear firsthand the educational opportunities and challenges being faced by educators in Sumter County.
The panelists are Torrance Choates, superintendent of Sumter County Schools; Ty Kinslow, headmaster of Southland Academy; Elizabeth Kuipers, Ph.D., principal of Furlow Charter School; John Watford, Ed.D., president of South Georgia Technical College; and Neal Weaver, Ph.D., president of Georgia Southwestern State University.

A reception begins at 5:30 p.m. followed by the dinner and program at 6 p.m. Admission is $25/Chamber members and $30/non-members. Table sponsors are $250 for a table of eight. Table sponsors also receive program recognition.
