Raiders defeat Creekside Christian 35-13

MCDONOUGH, GA – The Southland Academy Raiders (8-1, 3-0) made their second trip into the Atlanta metro area and accomplished the same result as last time. They defeated their opponents, Creekside Christian Academy, by the score of 35-13.

The first time they went up to the Atlanta area, they destroyed Notre Dame Academy 49-7 on Friday, September 14.

Landon Law led off the scoring by throwing a touchdown pass to Luke Law. The extra point by Zane Hines was good, giving the Raiders a 7-0 lead.

The Raiders added to their lead when running back Parker Weldon scored on a 41-yard run. The extra point by Hines was good, increasing Southland’s lead to 14-0.

The scoring parade continued as the Southland offense continued to move the football on the CCA defense. They moved the ball down to the 11-yard line. Running back Clay Owens then scored from 11-yards out. The PAT by Hines was good, giving the Raiders a 21-0 lead.

The Raider defense didn’t allow any points by CCA until late in the game. Southland continued to score points as Law threw a 30-yard pass to Owens for another Southland touchdown. The extra point by Hines was good, giving Southland a 28-0 lead at halftime.

Southland added more points when Weldon ran the ball 50 yards for another touchdown. Hines’ extra point attempt was good, and Southland enjoyed a 35-0 lead.

The Cougars scored a touchdown in the third quarter to get on the board as quarterback Devin Miller scored on a quarterback keeper. However, the extra point was missed. Running back Fernando Bryant scored the Cougars’ second touchdown of the game and the extra point was converted, making the score 35-13 Southland.

In the waning minutes of the game, the Cougars were driving again, but Caleb Law intercepted a pass by Miller in the end zone to end the game.

Southland will now turn their attention to their last regular-season game at Tiftarea Academy on Friday, November 2. This game will be for the GISA Region 3-AAA Championship. Kickoff is scheduled for 7:30 p.m.
