Americus-Sumter High School (ASHS) students work on a science puzzle with their teacher following a presentation by a visiting Georgia Power representative on Thursday. Kim Weaver, education specialist for Georgia Power, spoke to students on STEM (science, technology, engineering, and math) topics and possible career paths in the energy industry. Weaver travels the state encouraging high school students to consider the benefits of a career in her field. She spoke to nine classes at ASHS on topics of nuclear energy, physics, electricity production, dynamics of the energy workplace, and various roles played by energy workers around the state.
