AMERICUS — The Georgia Southwestern State University (GSW) campus community can now find Café Campesino’s locally roasted, fair trade, organic coffee sold by-the-cup inside the dining hall in the Marshall Student Center.
“It’s a really exciting opportunity for us to partner with Café Campesino and bring their great coffee right here on to our campus,” said GSW President Neal Weaver .
Café Campesino CEO Tripp Pomeroy said, “We really do strive to be a community-based coffee company. GSW plays no small role in our ability to connect farmers to coffee drinkers.”
“The way they do their business, the way they source their coffee and the way they treat their customers should be an inspiration to all of us in the way we treat our customers, the way we treat our students and the way we serve our community,” Weaver stated. “GSW is looking forward to a long-lasting, and hopefully growing, relationship with Café Campesino.”
Cafè Campesino, founded in 1998, is Georgia’s first and only 100 percent fair trade, organic coffee company. Recently, Café Campesino expanded its product-line .
This commitment to sustaining win-win relationships has helped build a community that Pomeroy credits with Café Campesino being served at GSW.
“Collaboration with local businesses such as Café Campesino is a positive thing for the university, the business and the community,” said Weaver. “The institutions that are going to become incredibly valuable to their local community are the ones who have great partnerships where the individuals and businesses are engaged and supporting the institution.”
Students, faculty, staff, and community members can choose from three blends served in the GSW dining hall.
