AMERICUS — The Kappa Sigma fraternity at Georgia Southwestern State University (GSW) hosted their annual Shave2Save event on Oct. 24 where brothers and pledges shaved their heads in order to raise money during Breast Cancer Awareness Month.
All proceeds are donated to Candice Hancock, an Americus local who is battling Stage 4 breast cancer.
“We chose to give our donations to Candice because she is right here in our own community,” said Kappa Sigma President Cole Angelo. “It just hits a little closer to home helping somebody in town.”
“This is near and dear to a lot of us,” Angelo stated. “We have a brother from Sylvester whose aunt is battling breast cancer right now.”
Cuttin’ Up Salon in Americus generously donated their time to deliver the clean cuts.
