AMERICUS — The Sumter County School System has announced that Georgia Power has donated $1,200 to help fund a greenhouse for Sumter County Middle School. Currently, the middle school Ag Program, under the direction of Brinson Brock, has been exploring the scope of the horticulture industry. Brock commented that “the addition of the greenhouse will greatly enhance the student’s understanding of growing and marketing plants.”
Thanks to Don Porter and the local Georgia Power, the students will soon have the ability to participate in hands-on activities that will connect their learning with real world applications.
“We would like to thank Mr. Porter and Georgia Power for this donation to the building of a greenhouse for our middle school program,” said Torrance Choates, Ed.D. “This is a valuable program and the support from Georgia Power will help our students and the community.
Donald Gillman, CTAE Director said, “We appreciate this generous donation and look forward to the completion of the greenhouse project. Thank you for your support of our students and the CTAE program.”
