Southland wrestlers shine at Trinity Tournament

DUBLIN, GA – The Southland Academy wrestling team finished in second place at the Trinity Tournament held at Trinity Christian Academy in Dublin, GA on Saturday, January 12.

The Raiders finished in second place as a team with a total of 219 points.

Several Raiders turned in outstanding individual performances as well. In the 113-lb. weight class, Tanner Humphrey wrestled his way to a championship in that weight class. Keaton Griffin also won the championship in the 120-lb. weight class. The Raiders had a third wrestler to win a championship: Ragan Norman finished in first place in the 285-lb. weight class.

In the 152-lb. weight class, Cole Landreth finished in second place, while Ben Cook finished in third in the 220-lb. weight class. Landon Griffin finished in fourth place in the 126-lb. weight class, and Tyler Joyner finished in fifth place in the 160-lb. weight class.

This tournament turned out to be excellent preparation for the Georgia Independent School Association (GISA) Region 3-AAA Tournament coming up on Saturday, January 26, at Southland Academy.

The following Friday and Saturday, February 1-2, the GISA State Wrestling Tournament will be held at the GSW Storm Dome.
