‘Live from Here’ coming to Rylander Friday

AMERICUS — If you like “Prairie Home Companion” which is now “Live from Here.” then this is the show for you. This down-home concert features local musicians and (this year) will raise money for scholarships for graduating seniors from Americus Sumter High Schools and Southland Academy. This year’s bands include Southern Skies, Ms. Parks & The Wreck, The Plucktones, Rob Bailey, The Pat Spann Band, and Randy Saye.
Americus Arts and the Rylander Theatre are co-sponsoring a concert, Live from Americus, Friday, Feb. 8 at the Rylander. “Live from Here” is a National Music Radio program produced by American Public Media that features a unique blend of musical performances, comedy, and audience interaction. While the program may not be broadcast around the globe, it will definitely feature a unique blend of local musicians and musical performances.
Music starts at 8 p.m. and tickets are available for $20 each online at www.rylander.org using the “Buy Tickets Online Here” link. Tickets will be available at the door.
The mission of The Americus-Sumter County Arts Council (Americus Arts) is to foster, promote, produce, and encourage visual, literary, and the performing arts in the Southwest Georgia area for the purpose of enriching the lives of its residents. In that spirit starting for the 2018-2019 school year Americus Arts is making a $500 music scholarship available to a graduating senior from both Americus Sumter County High School and Southland Academy.
Next year, school year 2019-2020, a Furlow Charter School scholarship opportunity will be added (for a total of three available scholarships) when their first graduating class is eligible to apply.
