ATLANTA – Americus-Sumter sophomore Antony DeMott finished the Panther swimming season with a fourth place finish in the 100-yard freestyle and a sixth place finish in the 50-yard free style at the Georgia High School Association (GHSA) High School State Swimming Championships on Saturday, February 9, at the Georgia Tech McAuley Aquatic Center.

Demott set school records in both the 100-yard freestyle and the 50-yard freestyle events. He swam the 100-yard freestyle in a time of 47.87 and the 50-yard free style in a time of 21.43.

The previous records were both held by Chris Achley. Achley participated in the 2000 Olympic Trials and was the top ranked 17 year old in the United States at that time.

Demott was undefeated in both events during the regular season, highlighted by a meet record of 22.11 in the 50 yard freestyle at the Region Championships.
