Flintside Drive victims identified

AMERICUS — The two bodies found Monday morning at a Flintside Drive address have been identified.

Assistant Special Agent in Charge Bryan Smith of the GBI Region 3 Americus Field Office, identified the victims as Delia Law, age 69, found on the porch of the residence, and Bernice Goodman, age 83, found inside. Smith said the autopsies had been completed by the State Crime Lab but the cause and manner of death are not being released at this time.

Sumter County Coroner Greg Hancock said the victims were sisters.

Sumter County Sheriff’s Chief Deputy Col. Eric Bryant told the Times-Recorder that a person was seen sitting on the porch of a residence around 10:30 a.m. Monday at 477 Flintside Drive on the Sumter County side of Lake Blackshear. The person was said to have a firearm. He said when EMS and Sumter and Crisp County deputies arrived they found that the person on the porch was dead, and also found another body inside the residence.

The investigation continues by the GBI and Sumter County Sheriff’s Office.
