AMERICUS – Americus Fire and Emergency Services will be holding its 24th annual benefit golf tournament on Friday, April 12, at the Griffin Bell Golf Course located at 1800 South Lee Street in Americus.
The tournament format will be a three-man scramble and it will be divided into two flights by handicap. They need the players’ names and handicaps by April 8 if possible. Entries should be received no later than April 8.
Lunch will be served from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Check in and a brief meeting will take place at 12:30 p.m. before the tournament begins at 1 p.m.
The cost is $210 per team. Check should be made payable to Americus Fire and Emergency services. The mailing address is 119 S. Lee St., Americus, GA 31709.
The entry fee includes cart and meal and it is tax deductible within the limits of the tax law.
The prize for the fist place finisher in both flights is $300. For the second place finisher, it’s $225 and for the third place finisher, it’s $150. The prize for the longest drive contest is $100 and the person who is closest to the pin gets $100. Prize packages for holes-in-one will be given on select holes.
Mulligans are $5 each and the maximum amount of mulligans that can be bought by a golfer is four (two on the front nine and two on the back nine). The mulligans can be bought while signing up.
Players are encouraged to bring some extra cash so they can participate in the raffle contest. Lots of prizes will be donated from sponsors. All of the proceeds will support the Americus Fire and Emergency Services Community Safety and Fire Prevention Programs here in Americus.
There are opportunities for sponsorship as well. To get a tee box sign with a company name will cost $50. To have a company name on both a tee box and green sign will cost $100. For those who want to be co-sponsors, their name will be on a banner under a Grand Sponsor and will be displayed in town and at the golf tournament. For all of this, the sponsor price is $500.
Grand Sponsors will have their company name listed at the top of the banner, which will be displayed in town and at the golf tournament. The price to be a Grand Sponsor is $1,000.
