AMERICUS — The third annual Paint the Town Blue Gala, to benefit the Smarr Smith Foundation, is Saturday, March 23 at the Georgia Southwestern State University Storm Dome.
The Smarr Smith Foundation was founded shortly two local law enforcement officers — Nick Smarr and Jody Smith — lost their lives in the line of duty on Dec. 6, 2016, while responding to a domestic disturbance call. The foundation has raised money to fund needed equipment for local law enforcement agencies as well as scholarships for criminal justice students.
This year’s gala starts at 6 p.m. The event includes a silent auction, dinner, full bar, live entertainment by Magician Eric Jones, followed by live dance music by the Swingin’ Medallions.
Jones, discovered on America’s Got Talent, tours the country and wows his audiences with feats of magic and illusion.
Blue tables, seating 10 and closest to the stage, are available at $2,500 each. Black tables, seating eight, are $1,500. Eric Jones sponsors are $500 each. Smarr family tables are $500 each, as are Smith family tables.
Organizer say that tables and tickets are going quickly. Make reservations now at
