AMERICUS – Furlow Charter forward Victoria Aguirre scored six goals to lead the FC middle school girls’ soccer team to a 6-1 thrashing of Wacoochee Junior High from Smith’s Station, AL.

The game was played at the Miller Rush Football/Soccer Complex.

In spite of the lopsided win, FC head coach Alex Gonzalez believes that his team has much work to be done to become the team they are capable of being.

“We have a long way to go. We’ve got to work on our passing and our communication as a team,” Gonzalez said. “We need to be able to play as a team and not rely on one person to do everything. We have a lot of work to do. We have a bright future ahead with these young girls.”

With the win, the Lady Falcons improve to 2-6 on the season.

The Lady Falcons controlled the run-of-play for most of the match, which allowed them to have numerous chances to score. Aguirre was able to use her speed to get past the WJH defenders and score goals. Summer Smith also had a chance to score for FC, but her shot was saved by the WJH goalkeeper.

WJH was able to get on the scoreboard when they got a goal from Ariyana Long, but that would be all the scoring the ladies from Alabama would be able to muster.

The Lady Falcons will host St. Teresa’s Catholic School on Tuesday, March 19, at the Miller Rush Football/Soccer Complex. Time of kickoff is to be determined.
