The Americus-Sumter High School Panther basketball team was honored at Thursday’s meeting of the Sumter County Board of Education. These young men went all the way to the Class AAAA State Championship game played in Macon. While they did not win, they played an outstanding game and season, and serve as examples of what student-athletes can accomplish when they give it their all. Americus and Sumter County are very proud of this team and congratulate them. A community celebration honoring the team is planned for 5:30 p.m. Monday in the Americus-Sumter High gym.
