SMITHVILLE — Mrs. Annie Marjorie Hurst Childers, age 90, passed away on Monday, April 1, 2019, at her home in Smithville.

Funeral services are planned for 11 a.m. on Saturday, April 6, from the graveside at Smithville Cemetery, with the Rev. Brooks Partain officiating.

The family will receive friends between the hours of 6 and 8 p.m. on Friday evening, April 5 at Hancock Funeral Home, 427 S. Lee St.

Born Nov. 5, 1928, in Thomasville, she was a daughter of the late Willie Hurst and the late Olyn Fletcher Hurst. Mrs. Childers had been a very active longtime member of Smithville United Methodist Church, where she had served as secretary-treasurer. She was retired as director of Activities at Magnolia Manor Nursing Center.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Marvin S. Childers.

Survivors include two sons: Steve Childers and his wife VelRae, and Wallace Childers and his wife Carol; four daughters: Ann Hall and her husband Jim, Winifred Childers, Carol Turner and her husband Jimmy, and Jane Morris and her husband Dale; grandchildren: Jay Hall and his wife Tonya, Matt Hall, Victor Castrejon and his wife Tara, Brian Casey and his wife Nicole, Cory Morris, Collin Morris, Ashley Morris, Todd Childers and his wife Moranda, Ben Childers, Jack Childers, and Caryn Childers; great-grandchildren: Gracie Harbuck, Lauren Elizabeth Hall, Addison Phillips, Rileigh Jones, Lilla Childers, Millie Jo Childers, and Jasmyne Castrejon; one sister, Jane Coker; and very special friends: Bertha Holloway, Bettye Greggs, and Carolyn Tolbert.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions to the Alzheimer’s Foundation of America, 322 8th Avenue, 7th Floor, New York NY 10001; or to Smithville United Methodist Church, P.O. Box 515, Smithville GA 31787.
