ALBANY — Robert W. Jordan Sr., of Albany, Ga., passed away peacefully on Tuesday, May 14, 2019, in his home. A devout man of God and an active, long-time member of Sherwood Baptist Church, he lived his life as a witness for Jesus Christ making, it a matter of highest priority to unashamedly lead his family through a positive Christian example. In this endeavor, he was most successful. He began work at Georgia Power Company where retired with 37 years as a power lineman. In the face of one of the most dangerous professions, he amassed an exemplary safety record with no vehicle accidents or electrical contact incidents. For this accomplishment and every other situation occurring in his life, good or bad, he never failed or hesitated to glorify God. His involvement with Georgia Power continued after his retirement and right up to his passing through his involvement with Ambassadors, a network or retirees and their spouses committed to active community volunteerism and support.

A man of very humble and simplistic means, he was fiercely dedicated to those he loved and left no doubt where he stood on his commitments. He was most happy bream fishing and watching old westerns, World War II documentaries, and Alabama football on TV. After the passing of his most beloved wife, Maxine, he looked forward with great anticipation to the day when he could meet the Lord and be reunited with her.

He is survived by his son R. Wayne Jordan Jr. (Mary Kaye), granddaughter Mallory Jordan, and grandson Colson Jordan, all of Huntsville, Ala.; sisters Gladys Stewart, Faye McCrary (Nelson),  and brother Gene Jordan (Gwen), all of Americus, Ga., and a number of nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by his parents Hubert R. Jordan and Lura Pilcher Jordan; sisters Gloria Brown and Betty Sue Conn; daughter Mary Lynn Jordan; and his beloved wife Maxine Jordan.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, May 18, at Sherwood Baptist Church in Albany, Ga., with visitation from 10-11 a.m. Burial will follow at 1:30 p.m. at Sunset Memorial Gardens in Americus, Ga.
