AMERICUS — Mrs. Anna Ruth Warren Royal, 86, of Americus died Monday, May 20, 2019, at Phoebe Sumter Medical Center. A native of North Wilkesboro, N.C., she was born May 13, 1933, to the late Arthur and Dell Warren. She was a member of Central Baptist Church in Americus and Fairplains Baptist Church in North Wilkesboro, N.C. Mrs. Royal was retired from the Department of Family and Children Services.

A graveside funeral service will be held at 10 a.m., Thursday, May 23 at Sunset Memorial Gardens in Americus. Mrs. Royal’s grandson, the Rev. Donny Young, will officiate the service. The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m., Wednesday, May 22 at Greg Hancock Funeral Chapel in Americus.

Survivors include her two daughters: Mary Dell Royal and Susan Young, both of Americus; two sons and daughters-in-law: James and Tracy Royal of Plano, Texas, and John and Annette Royal of Smithville; 13 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren. She is also survived by a sister, Peggy Warren Byrd, and a brother, Durward Warren, both of North Wilkesboro, N.C.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Charles T. Royal; a daughter, Dr. Rebecca Stephens; and a granddaughter, Robin Young.
