Barbara Tucker Simpson: May 25, 2019

Barbara Tucker Simpson, age 82, passed away Saturday, May 25, 2019. Services will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, June 1 at Calvary Episcopal Church in Americus Georgia. A reception will follow in the Parish Hall.

Ms. Simpson was born Aug. 8, 1936, in Washington, Georgia, and graduated from Washington High School. She then attended the University of Georgia and the Medical College of Georgia and received her bachelor of science and masters of science in nursing, and CNSP in nursing. After graduating nursing school, she went to work in Americus as a hospital nurse and earned head nurse honors. Her career was put on hold while she raised her kids. In 1975, she earned a degree in the masters nursing program at the Medical College of Georgia. She served as a teacher at Georgia Southwestern in the nursing department. She also earned a clinical nursing specialist degree (CNSP) and utilized her skills at the Methodist Children’s Home and at Middle Flint Mental Health. She worked as a clinical psychoanalyst in private practice in Americus until the age of 78. Ms. Simpson was a member of Calvary Episcopal Church in Americus.

Survivors include her children, Stacy Simpson Davis (Terry), Harvey Lee (Tripp) Simpson III (Robyn), and Kelly Simpson Putman (Jeff); her grandchildren: Chaz Davis, Brannen Davis, T.D. Davis, Lee Simpson (Madison), Lindsey Simpson, Landry Simpson, Neel Putman, and Mary Carter Putman.

In lieu of flowers the family requests memorial contributions be made to Calvary Episcopal Church, 408 S. Lee St., Americus GA 31709 or to Serenity Hospice, 2601 N. Columbia St., Milledgeville GA 31061.
