AMERICUS — Gail Glawson Ariail, 78, of Americus died Wednesday, June 5 at her home. A lifelong resident of Sumter County, she was born Jan. 17, 1941, to the late Mrs. Mary Copeland Glawson. As a member of First Baptist Church, she was actively involved in many church activities. She was also a member of the Junior Service League.

A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m., Saturday, June 8 at First Baptist Church of Americus with the Rev. Keith Parks officiating. The family will receive friends an hour prior the service, at 10 a.m., at the church.

Survivors include her husband of 58 years, Ervan Ariail of Americus; and two daughters and a son-in-law: Gayla Ariail Payne of Auburn, Ala., and Ashley Ariail Bernier and her husband Jeff, of Alpharetta. Also surviving are four grandchildren: Rob Payne, Ashlyn Payne, Nicholas Bernier, and Natalie Bernier Fitzhugh (Austin); and one great-grandchild, Maverick Fitzhugh.
