• Firefighters responded to 18 calls for medical assistance.
• Firefighters responded to Badcock Home Furniture, 1607 E. Lamar St. It was a false alarm.
• Firefighters responded to a traffic accident on Magnolia Street.
• Firefighters responded to a building fire on Lonnie Lane, which is still under investigation.
• Firefighters responded to an alarm at Sumter County Elementary School, 438 Bumphead Road. No hazards were found.
• Firefighters responded to a false alarm on Carter Street.
• Firefighters responded to Academy Street to a report of a gas odor. It was found that someone had poured gasoline in an area across the street and the odor traveled across the street. No hazards were found. The man across the street told them he had been ordered to clean up the lot and was using about five gallons of gasoline to kill bees.
• Firefighters responded to East Furlow Street where they assisted Americus Police in gaining entry to a residence for a welfare check. They forced the back door for the police.
