AMERICUS – The accomplishment that took place on Thursday evening, July 11, is impressive no matter what basketball league one plays in. Wallace Bradley, a member of the 17u Thunder squad of the Dwight Harris Boys Club Basketball League (DHBCBL), scored 64 points against the 17u Rockets that night at the Americus-Sumter County Ninth Grade Academy.

Bradley, who is also a starting guard on the Americus-Sumter High School basketball team (ASHS), hit 13 three-pointers in this game. “My teammates were setting off-ball and on-ball screens and I was able to get open and knock down shots,” Bradley said.

While Bradley didn’t score nearly as many points in the Thunder’s 51-50 win over the Raptors in DHBCBL action on Monday, July 15, he led the team with 19 points and hit two shots from beyond the arc.

Bradley played a key role in leading the ASHS Panthers to the GHSA Class AAAA State Championship Game back in March. Unfortunately for the Panthers, they fell in that game to Carver (Columbus) 58-55.

Bradley will be a senior this fall and will assume a greater leadership role, as he will try to help lead ASHS back to the state finals.

In the mean time, Bradley and his 17u Thunder teammates have some business to take care of. They will try to win the 2019 DHBCBL championship for the 17u division. The DHBCBL playoffs for each of the four age divisions begin on Wednesday, July 17.
