AMERICUS — A team of assessors from the Commission on Accreditation for the Law Enforcement Agencies Inc. (CALEA) is to arrive Sunday to examine all aspects of the Americus Police Department policy and procedures, management, operations, and support services.
Americus Police Chief Mark Scott has announced that as part of the on-site assessment, agency personnel and members of the community are invited to offer comments at a public information session at 5 p.m. Tuesday in the Americus City Council Chambers of the Russell Thomas Jr. Public Safety Building, 119 S. Lee St.
Scott said that if an individual cannot speak at the public information session, but still wants to provide comments for the assessment team, he/she may do so by telephone at 229-924-4758 from 1-3 p.m. Tuesday.
Telephone comments as well as appearances at the public information session are limited to 10 minutes and must address the agency’s ability to comply with CALEA standards. A copy of the standards is available at the Americus Police Department. Contact Sgt. Eric English at 229-924-3677 with any questions.
