GAINESVILLE — Mrs. Kathrine Statham “Kay” Ansley, age 83, passed away Thursday, Aug. 15, 2019, at her residence in Gainesville, Ga. A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 24, 2019, at First United Methodist Church in Americus. The Rev. Daryl Brown will officiate. Interment will follow at Oak Grove Cemetery. A reception will follow at the family home, 1027 S. Lee St. in Americus. They will also receive friends and family at the family home on Thursday and Friday late afternoon and evening.

Kathrine Statham Ansley was born Nov. 27, 1935, in Americus. She was the daughter of the late Ben Fred Statham and the late Elmer Buchanan Statham. She attended Shorter College in Rome, Ga., and the University of Georgia and was a member of the Alpha Delta Pi sorority. She was a homemaker and member of First United Methodist Church in Americus and a member of the Epworth Sunday School Class and Mary Martha Circle. She was also an honorary member of the Junior Service League in Americus.

Survivors include her daughters, Lynn Ansley and Kathy Ansley Vickers, both of Gainesville, and a son and daughter-in-law Ben Fred Ansley and Jenny of Americus; six grandchildren Kai Ansley Vickers, Ben Fred Ansley Jr. and wife Kayla, Emiley Ansley Waller and husband Chandler, Ashley Kate Ansley, William McKay Ansley and Anthony Michael Ansley; and a great-granddaughter Hazel Claire Ansley; a daughter-in-law Debbie Blocker Ansley and a sister Sue Statham.  A brother-in-law Joe McKay Ansley Jr. and wife Barbara of Tyler, Texas, also survive as well as a number of nieces and nephews.

Mrs. Ansley was preceded in death by her husband Emory Council Ansley; two sons, Emory Council Ansley Jr. (Lee) and Anthony McKay Ansley (Tony) and a sister Bonnie Statham Peirce.
