GSW cross country teams finish seventh and 11th at VSU Border Clash

VALDOSTA – The Georgia Southwestern State University women’s cross country team finished in seventh place, while the men’s team finished in 11th place at the VSU Border Clash on Saturday, September 7, in Valdosta, GA.
Quincy Mayer led the way for the Lady Hurricanes by finishing in 35th place with a time of 22:39.6. The GSW runner with the next best finish was Catherin Hall. Hall finished in 36th place out of 82 runners with a time of 22:45.2.
On the men’s side, Nick Moody turned in the best finish for the Hurricanes. Moody finished in 62nd place out of 91 runners with a time of 29:19.4. Peyton Sells turned in the next best finish for the Hurricanes. Sells finished in 77th place with a time of 33:11.5.
As a team, the Hurricanes finished with a total score of 303 during their first inaugural race this season.
The University of Tampa (UT) took home the team championships for both the men and women’s races. The UT men’s team finished with a time of 2:03.42, while the women’s team finished in a time of 1:37.11. UT runners Trevor Kattenberg (23:43.7) and Aspen Gordon (18:43.4) both finished in first place for the Spartans and Lady Spartans.
