Schley County XC runners turn in solid performances at Peake Invitational

MACON – The Schley County (SC) high school and middle school girls’ and boys’ cross country teams turned in very strong performances on Saturday, September 7, at the Peake Invitational in Macon.

Headlining the Wildcats’ success were SC varsity boys runners David Williams and Aaron Pinckard. Williams finished in third place in the varsity boys’ race with a time of 20:25.08 and Pinckard finished just two spots below in fifth place in a time of 20:30.03. Both Williams and Pinckard were able to help lead the Wildcats to a third-place finish in the team standings. The Wildcats finished just three points out of second-place finisher First Presbyterian Day School and 11 points out of the meet champions Northside (Warner Robins).

Behind Pinckard, Peter Horton was the next best finisher for the Wildcats. Horton finished in 16th place out of the 124 runners that competed with a time of 21:38.01. Horton was followed by Dustin Howard (22:46.60), John Lightner (23:07.96), Daniel Iordanov (23:29.30), Dylan Abair (23:31.17) and Griffin Toms (25:12.05).

Other Wildcat runners who competed in the race were Tucker Welch (26:44.22), Luke Pawlowski (26:55.26), Landon Moore (27:38.12), Lynton Godwin (30:48.09), Andrew James (31:20.11), Eli Bacon (31:26.26) and Caleb Smith (43:03.01).

On the girls’ side, Grace Hardage turned in the best finish for the Lady Wildcats. Hardage finished in 19th place out of 69 runners in a time of 28:07.95.

In the middle school boys’ race, Caleb Renfroe turned in the best finish for the Wildcats. Renfroe finished in a time of 13:37.78. Ethan Bliss was the Wildcats’ next best finisher. Bliss crossed the finish line in a time of 15:00.55. Bliss was followed by Kyle Duprey (17:27.26), Owen Pawlowski (17:28.00), Lee London (19:54.53) and Taylor Fletcher (22:05.34).

In girls’ middle school action, Abbie James turned in the best finish among the three SCMS runners. James finished in a time of 18:28.34. James’ teammate, Harley Eggers, finished right behind her in a time of 18:39.51. Mallory Crawford turned in the next best finish for the Lady Wildcats. Crawford crossed the finish line in a time of 24:30.72.
