AMERICUS — Mr. Max Tesney, 80, of Americus, died on Wednesday, Sept. 11, 2019, at Phoebe Sumter Medical Center.

The funeral service will be held at 3 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 13, 2019, at Banks Funeral Home Chapel; interment to follow in the Hillcrest Cemetery. The Rev. Earl Dunmon and Mr. Allen Scott will officiate.

Mr. Tesney was born on July 5, 1939, in Marion County, Ala., to the late John Malone and Girtie Underwood Tesney. He had lived in Americus for the past 53 years and retired from farming in 1995. Mr. Tesney enjoyed traveling, watching westerns, fishing, but most importantly spending time with his family and friends.

Survivors include his wife, Sara Tesney of Americus; daughter, Julie Scott (Allen) of Buena Vista; grandchildren, Hannah and Caleb Scott of Buena Vista; and a sister, Inez Crowe of Sylvester.

In addition to his parents, Mr. Tesney was preceded in death by his sisters, Clytee Chambless, Leona Hullett, Alma Lee Tesney; brothers, Pete and Ben Tesney.
