AMERICUS — On Thursday, Sept. 26, Sumter County will host the 31st Taste of Sumter on Jackson Street in downtown Americus. This event is a culinary festival that highlights the iconic cuisine of local restaurants and catering professionals in Sumter County. Bring the entire family for a community experience they won’t forget! Festivities begin at 6 p.m. with food, drinks, and live entertainment and run until 9 p.m. Community pillar, Magnolia Manor is the presenting sponsor for the festival and is pleased to be a part of this event. “We are honored to sponsor an event that has become such an integral part of the Americus community. This is a fun event that everyone should come out and enjoy,” states Stephen Vinson, senior vice president of communications at Magnolia Manor.
The event has moved back to its original location on Jackson Street in downtown. After much consideration, Americus Main Street has decided to offer free admission to all for the event. The city leadership believes free admission will allow attendees the opportunity to purchase more items from the vendors and have a better culinary adventure. Children age 17 and under must be accompanied by an adult.
“Sumter County has a lot to offer. We look forward to creating these family-friendly events that allow for all of our residents to come and have a good time,” said Main Street Director Qaijuan Willis. Americus Main Street is proud to announce that The Essence Band and Ms. Parks and the Wreck will be the live entertainment for the evening. The desire of Main Street is to grow Taste of Sumter and give the community an experience that highlights the unity, diversity, and vitality of Georgia’s Sumter County.
This event is organized by Americus Main Street and the City of Americus. One of the goals of the organization is to cultivate downtown Americus’ economic and cultural enrichment by providing a platform for entertainment and social engagement to the general public on a regular basis.
