DUBLIN — Mr. Jimmie Lee Perry of Dublin, Ga., a native of Americus, Ga., passed Sunday, Sept. 22, 2019, at Fairview Hospital in Dublin, Ga. Jim, as he was affectionately called, was born in Sumter County, Georgia, on Sept. 20, 1943, to the parentage of the late Valmore and Christine Perry. He was the third of six children. He received his education in the public schools of Sumter County, Georgia, and was a graduate in the class of 1961 from Sumter County High School.

Immediately upon graduating from high school, Jim joined the United States Army and served during the Vietnam War. He was preceded in death by one sister, Minnie Perry Bivins Jones. Jim leaves to cherish his memories his wife of 28 years, Naomi Smith Perry.

Also mourning Jim’s death are his four stepsons: Gregory (Monique) Jones, Steven Jones, Frederick Jones, and Vincent Jones, all of Dublin, Ga.; several step grandchildren, two of which he and his wife Naomi reared, La’Azia and Ryan Jones.

In addition to his wife, stepsons and stepgrandchildren, Jim leaves to mourn his passing one sister: Brenda (Calvin) Mansfield of Americus, Ga.; three brothers: Eddie Perry, Miami, Fla., John (Yvonne) Perry of Jackson, N.J., and Rodney (Sandra) Perry of Americus, Ga. He is also survived by three sisters-in-law: Betty (Robert) Hall, Dublin, Ga., Robbie (Frank) Latimore, Americus, Ga., Sarah (Jimmy) Edwards, Dublin, Ga.; four brothers-in-law: Havie (Emma) Smith, Toscanell Smith, Mark (Thelia) Smith Jr., and James (Lorraine) Smith, all of Dublin, Ga. The funeral service is at 11 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 28 in the chapel of Wyche’s Funeral Home, Dublin, Ga. Wyche Funeral Home of Dublin is in charge of arrangements.
