SGTC men’s basketball player signs letter of intent to play Division 1 basketball

AMERICUS, GA – South Georgia Technical College sophomore center Merdy Bata has signed a letter of intent to continue his education and play college basketball at the NCAA Division 1 level next season.
The 7’0 center from Kinshasa, Congo will be continuing his education and playing basketball at Austin Peay State University, an NCAA Division 1 school in Clarksville, TN.
SGTC head coach Travis Garrett, along with Bata’s teammates, were on hand to witness his signing.
Bata and the Jets will continue their quest to return to the NJCAA Region XVII Tournament for the fifth consecutive year when they take on Action Sports Academy at the Hangar on Tuesday, December 3. Those who attend SGTC’s free “Light up Your Future” event that evening will be granted admission to the game at no charge.
“Light up Your Future” begins at 5:30 p.m. and the Jets’ game tips off at 7 p.m.
