AMERICUS – The Georgia Southwestern State University women’s softball team is preparing for an exciting 2020 season as their schedule is set with 56 games.

Last season, the Lady Hurricanes made history when they picked up 10 {each Belt Conference (PBC) wins in GSW history and earned a berth to the PBC tournament for the second consecutive year.

The Lady Hurricanes finished their season by going 2-1 in the PBC Tournament.

GSW opens the season competing in the Flagler Invitational Friday and Saturday, Jan. 31 – Feb. 1, where they will play Barry University (Fla.) and Lynn University (Fla.). The Lady Hurricanes will then take the short trip to play Albany State on Saturday, Feb. 8, before coming back to Americus to host their first home game on Wednesday, Feb. 12, against Fort Valley State.

Friday and Saturday, February 14-15, the Lady Hurricanes will be competing in the Cougar Classic, where they will play games against Albany State, Coker College (SC), Queen’s University (NC) and Union University (TN). GSW plays Clark Atlanta University on Tuesday, February 18, and Point University on Saturday, February 22.

The Lady Hurricanes will host their final home game of the month on Wednesday, February 26, against Albany State before travelling to Fort Valley State on Saturday, February 29.

The Lady Hurricanes open up March on the road at Valdosta State on Wednesday, March 4, before returning to host back-to-back home games against Middle Georgia State (Friday, March 6) and Shorter University (Tuesday, March 10). GSW will open up PBC play on Friday, March 13, against Georgia College before taking on Auburn Montgomery in a Tuesday match on March 17.

GSW will then compete in a weekend series with games against Augusta University on Saturday, March 21 and against USC Aiken on Sunday, March 22. A short trip out to play West Georgia is scheduled for Wednesday, March 25, before the Lady Hurricanes return home to host Young Harris College on Saturday, March 28. GSW closes out the month on Tuesday, March 31 against Emmanuel College (Ga.).

PBC Tournament Champions North Georgia come to Americus for a home game on Friday, April 3, before GSW takes the road to play Southern Wesleyan on Tuesday, April 7, UNC Pembroke (Friday, April 10) and Francis Marion University (Saturday, April 11). GSW will close out the month of April with a slew of home games, starting with a matchup against Montevallo on Tuesday, April 14. They will then take on Columbus State on Saturday, April 18, followed by a home game against Flagler the following day (April 19). The Lady Hurricanes will then wrap up the regular season, when they host Lander University on Friday, April 24.

The PBC Championship will be hosted by Lander University in Greenwood, S.C. Friday and Saturday, May 1-2.
