ATLANTA – After a 57-35 dismantling of Tift County on Friday, December 27, the undefeated Americus-Sumter High School boys’ basketball team (13-0) put their undefeated record on the line when they traveled up to Atlanta to take on Landstown, a school from Virginia Beach, VA, in the Big South Shootout at Holy Innocents Episcopal School on Saturday, December 28. In perhaps their toughest game of the season so far, the Panthers were able to outlast the Eagles 64-61 to keep their unblemished record.

“It was a tough game. We needed that competition and level of play going into region play next year. The other team was very aggressive”, ASHS head coach Johnny Genwright said.

The Panthers had three players score in double figures. Wallace Bradley led the Panthers in scoring with 15 points and Trae Brown poured in 14. Quevoluia Willoughby was also in double figures, having scored 12 points.

ASHS will now turn their attention to Region 1-AAAA competition when they travel up to Columbus to take on Northside (Columbus) on Tuesday, January 7. Tip off for that game is scheduled for 7:30 p.m.
