Phoebe Sumter to Hold Annual Community Heart Walk Feb. 8

Americus, Ga. – Heart disease is the leading cause of death for men and women in the United States. With small lifestyle changes and staying active, one can reverse some heart disease risk factors. In celebration of American Heart Month, Phoebe Sumter Medical Center is encouraging the community to be active with its Annual Heart Walk/Run. Walkers and runners from seven counties around the region will join together to promote healthy hearts.
The Phoebe Heart Walk will take place on Saturday, February 8 at the following locations simultaneously:
* Sumter County
Mattie H. Marshall Walking Trail, Phoebe Sumter Campus
126 Hwy. 280 West, Americus
* Dooly County
Dooly County Recreational Dept. Complex
216 Ninth St., Vienna
* Macon County
Preston Williams Center
700 Vienna Road, Montezuma
* Marion County
Phoebe Primary Care of Buena Vista
1009 Georgia Hwy. 41 North, Buena Vista
* Schley County
Schley County Recreation Dept. Complex
400 Gill Street, Ellaville
* Stewart & Webster County
Webster County Courthouse
6330 Hamilton Street, Preston
The Heart Walk is free for participants. A trophy will be presented to the organization with the most participants at each location. The Heart Walk is Saturday, February 8. Registration begins at 8:30 a.m. followed by the walk/run at 9:30 a.m. For more information, call 229-931-6812.
