AMERICUS – A group of local community leaders will be hosting a March Madness charity event on Saturday, March 21, at the Americus-Sumter HS gymnasium to honor the Americus-Sumter HS Girls’ Basketball Team, who recently won the GHSA Class AAAA Girls’ state title.
The event is also held in honor of the Sumter County Parks and Recreation Department (SCPRD) All-Star basketball teams (12U Boys, 12U Girls and 8U Boys) that won their various Georgia Recreation and Parks Association (GRPA) state championships.

As part of the festivities, there will be two games played. The first game will feature the combined state championship co-ed team and community leaders. The second game will be between the All-Stars new school co-ed team and the All-Stars old school co-ed team.
There will be halftime entertainment, which will include a half-court shootout, a three-point contest and a slam-dunk contest. All proceeds will go to purchasing the girls and boys recreation team championship rings, along with boys and girls AAU sponsorships.

Tickets will be $5 for adults and $2 for students in grades K-12. Kids four years old and under get in for free.
There will also be opportunities for sponsorships. A $250 sponsorship gets the name of your business on the back of a team t-shirt and on a banner and your business will be recognized during one of the games and it will be listed on promotional materials.

A $100 sponsorship will get the name of your business on banner, it will be recognized during game and it will be listed on all promotional materials.
A $50 sponsorship will get the name of your business on a banner and it will be listed on all promotional materials.
All checks must be made payable to Americus-Sumter March Madness charity event.
