Mr. William “Bill” Thomas Dodson age 73 of Americus, passed away Friday, April 24, 2020

at his residence. A private graveside service will be held Sunday, April 26, 2020. Rev. James Becket, Tim Estes and Troy Pearson will officiate. The family is receiving friends at the residence 111 Joe Harper Road Americus.  

Mr. Dodson was born January 8, 1947 in Mitchell, County. He was the son of the late Hugh Dorsey Dodson and the late Willie Mae Sellers Dodson. He worked for Simplex Nail Company as a Supervisor until his retirement and owned the former Bill’s Thrifty Gas and Uhaul.  

Survivors include his wife Joann Pearson Dodson of Americus, two sons and daughters-in-law William Jerome Dodson (Amanda) of Cleveland, GA and John Thomas Dodson (April) of Ellaville. Two sisters and brother-in-law Alice Faye Humphries (Billy) of Pelham and Patsy Lenell Bryan of Cordele. A brother and sister-in-law Archie Lee Dodson (Kathy); eight grandchildren Ashley Nichole Smith (Ryan), Candace Brooke McDonald (Dusty), Dalton Lane Dodson, Haleigh Elizabeth Dodson, Logan Thomas Dodson, Colten Daniel Dodson, Anna Marie Dodson and Madison Faith Dodson. He is also survived by five great grandchildren Braxton Lee Smith, Levi Kole Dodson, Makenzee Jo Smith, Carli Laine McDonald, Jaxon Wayne Thorpe and a number a of nieces and nephews.  

Mr. Dodson was preceded in death by his Paternal Grandparents John Thomas Dodson and Clara White Dodson and his Maternal Grandparents Rev. Willie A Sellars and Dennie Mae Wisham Sellers. One sister Clara Mae Lasserter, A brother Forrest Hughie Dodson and a great grandson Conor Franklin McDonald.
