Mrs Rosalynn Carter, regardless of being First Lady of Georgia and of the United States, was one of the most gracious and down to earth people I have ever known. Her concern was not for herself but for others in need. This concern is demonstrated through her work with mental health, Habitat for Humanity, for caregivers through The Rosalynn Carter Institute and through the food distribution program at Maranatha (which she started). She also worked to improve our community through Better Hometown program and by establishing butterfly gardens all over Plains. Her legacy will undoubtedly be felt throughout the community, and the void left by her absence will be immense. It is evident that Mrs. Rosalyn touched the lives of everyone who had the privilege of knowing her, and her loss will be deeply felt by all. Plains will forever remember Mrs. Rosalyn with love and gratitude, for she truly was an inspiration to us all.
