GREENVILLE, TN – There was no Thanksgiving hangover for the Georgia Southwestern women’s basketball team on Saturday afternoon in a 95-70 win at Tusculum University. The Lady Hurricanes used a 20-0 run in the second quarter to pull away early from the Pioneers and led by as many as 35 points to improve their record to 3-1 this season.
Kayla Langley was perfect from the floor, connecting on all eight of her shot attempts, to lead GSW with 20 points in only 21 minutes of action. Jashanti Simmons drained 7 of 10 shots along with all four of her free throw attempts to finish with 18 points. Lexi McCully added 17 points.
It was Langley’s eighth 20-plus scoring night of her career, putting her four back of the all-time leader Ava Jones.
This was the third highest point total scored by the Lady Hurricanes against an NCAA Division 2 opponent in program history.
GSW returns home to host Albany State University (0-6) on Thursday at 7 p.m.
