AMERICUS – Georgia Southwestern State University and Perry Brothers Oil Company had the opportunity to meet with Charles Eames recently, a philanthropist from Waycross. Eames provides funding for gas cards for GSW students and other schools in South Georgia, including South Georgia Technical College.

Because of his generosity to GSW students, the University initiated a partnership with Perry Brothers Oil Company to acquire the cards exclusively with the Sumter County -based “Gas n Go” stores. The University distributes multiple cards each month to students.

“Receiving a gas card means so much to me,” said Easton Cummings, a GSW sophomore from Sylvester. “As a college student, traveling home is difficult to afford, especially in the holiday season. I am grateful for the generosity of the donors who were able to bless me in this way.”

During his recent trip to Americus, Eames met with representatives from GSW and Perry Brothers at their headquarters in Americus.

Eames is a retired librarian. He has been recognized by the University System of Georgia (USG) Foundation with a Regents Hall of Fame award because of his generosity to schools within the USG, at South Georgia State College in Douglas, in particular.
