Hurricanes complete sweep of Albany State

ALBANY – The Georgia Southwestern State University men’s basketball team (GSW) recorded their first series sweep of the season, defeating Albany State 65-56 on Monday night.

Three Hurricanes scored in double figures. JaKwon Moore scored 20 points and connected on eight of his 15 shot attempts. Moore nearly posted a double double, as he hauled in nine rebounds. Moore has scored 20 points or more in two consecutive games.

Bryce Turner had a solid performance in this game as well. He scored a career high 13 points, shot 45 percent from the field and hauled in nine rebounds. Jaylen Jordon also scored 13 points and shot over 50 percent from the field. He collected seven rebounds and has been on a hot streak, putting up double-digit points in three of his last four games.

With the win, the Hurricanes earn a sweep over the Golden Rams, as they defeated ASU 84-75 back on November 20. GSW has now won three consecutive games and they are currently 6-1 on the young season. The Hurricanes will travel down to Florida to take on Lynn University (4-1) in the 2023 Health First Winter Classic hosted by Florida Tech next Monday at 4:30 p.m.
