Lady Hurricanes sweep Albany State

ALBANY – The Georgia Southwestern State University women’s basketball team (GSW) extended its winning streak to five games by defeating Albany State for the second time this season by the score of 68-48.

The Lady Hurricanes only had one player score in double figures. Jashanti Simmons tied a career high 18 points, hit seven of her nine shot attempts and added a career high nine rebounds. Simmons has scored in double-digits in three of her last four games.

Despite only one player scoring in double digits, the Lady Hurricanes dominated the Golden Rams while sweeping the season series.

GSW led by as many as 28 points in the contest and held the lead for nearly 96 percent of the game. The Lady Hurricanes also held the rebound advantage, as they outrebounded ASU 34-15.

The Lady Hurricanes will not play again until December 30th when they return home take on Tusculum for the second time this season at 5:30 p.m. in the Storm Dome.
