Lady Panthers earn split at Jones County Tournament

GRAY, GA – The Sumter County Lady Panthers went up to Jones County on Wednesday to compete in the Jones County Holiday Tournament. They lost their first tournament game to the host team Jones County by the score of 51-44 on Wednesday, but followed that up with a 63-42 victory over West Laurens on Thursday.

In the game against the Lady Greyhounds of Jones County, Jesstynie Scott led the Lady Panthers with 18 points and J’Niyah Edwards chipped in nine points in the losing cause. Carlie Skinner led the Lady Greyhounds in scoring with 13 points.

In the win over West Laurens, three Lady Panthers were in double figures. Aliyah McGarrah led the Lady Panthers in scoring with 17 points, Jesstynie Scott had 14 and Lauren Harris chipped in 13 in the winning cause. Brooklyn Jackson led the Lady Raiders in scoring with 17 points.

After the Christmas break, the Lady Panthers (4-2) will travel to Birmingham, AL to compete in another holiday tournament. They will take on Hoover High School in their first game of the tournament on Wednesday, December 27, at 6 p.m.
