AMERICUS – Phoebe Sumter and Healthy Sumter distributed 500 produce bags and 500 bunches of collards at its annual Martin Luther King Jr. Day of Service.  It’s part of Phoebe Sumter’s continuing initiative of Eliminating Food Deserts in our community.

Thanks to Farmer Fredo of Flint River Fresh; Jenn Palan and Team Koinonia as well as the GSW Men’s Soccer Team for stuffing more than 1,100 produce bags for Americus and Albany events; Nigel Poole and the local Emergency Management team; Local members of the Divine Nine; Stephen Woodson; Phoebe Sumter Patient & Family Advisory Council Member Marvin Harris; Americus Police Department & Sumter County Sheriff Department; Commander Nelson Brown; Phoebe Sumter’s Chance Elliott and Clint Perdue; Pastor Larry Sims and a host of other volunteers.

A special thanks to Sumter County High School Athletic Director Coleman Price, his coaches, and more than 25 student athletes who came out to volunteer on a day off of school.
