Ndukwe Named Southeast Region MOP, Langley & Simmons earn All-Tournament honors

SALISBURY, NCThe Georgia Southwestern State University women’s basketball team had three players receive NCAA Division II Southeast Region Tournament accolades on Monday night at the conclusion of the championship game in Goodman Gym on the campus of Catawba College. Junior guard Ndidiamaka Ndukwe was named the Most Outstanding Player and senior forward Kayla Langley and junior guard Jashanti Simmons earned All-Tournament honors.

Ndukwe scored 18 points in the second round game against host Catawba College and followed that performance with 21 points in 26 minutes in the championship win over Carson-Newman University. Ndukwe was 7 of 9 from 3-point range over those two games. She shot 60 percent overall during the tournament.

Langley earned All-Tournament honors for the second consecutive season. She posted a double-double in this year’s regional semifinal with 20 points and 11 rebounds. She shot 65.2 percent overall during the tournament, averaged 7.3 rebounds and 1.7 blocks in 26.7 minutes on the court. Simmons had a double-double in the Lady Hurricanes opening round victory over Lenoir-Rhyne University on Friday night and led GSW with 27 points in the semifinal on Saturday. She averaged seven rebounds and 3.3 steals in the three games.
