STATESBORO, GA – Just three days after the Georgia Southwestern State Lady Hurricanes were eliminated from the women’s NCAA Division II tournament in the Elite Eight round, head coach Hana Haden will be leaving Americus.

WALB is reporting that Haden, the WBCA National Coach of the Year, will be taking over at Georgia Southern. The announcement was made Friday, March 29 by Georgia Southern Director of Athletics Jared Benko.

Haden was hired by Georgia Southwestern State (GSW) in May of 2023 and spent just one season with the Lady Hurricanes. She led GSW to a 29-4 overall record and a 16-2 mark in the Peach Belt Conference. The Lady Hurricanes captured their second consecutive Peach Belt Conference title and followed it up with the NCAA Southeast Region crown. The Elite Eight berth was the first in program history. The 29 wins this season is also a record for the Lady Hurricanes.

A press conference is scheduled on April 2, 2024, at 3:00 PM on the campus of Georgia Southern.
