Nine-run seventh propels Wildcats to victory over Manchester

MANCHESTER, GA – With the score tied at 2-2 going into the seventh inning between the Schley County Wildcats and the Manchester Blue Devils, the Wildcats erupted with nine runs in the top of the seventh on four hits and took advantage of an error, two walks and two hit batsmen on their way to an 11-2 victory over the Blue Devils in Manchester on Monday.

Jay Kanazawa led the Wildcats’ offense by going 3 for 4 at the plate with a double and a run scored and Jack Clark went 1 for 3 with a double and two RBIs.

Brody Smith had another dominating performance on the mound for SCHS. In seven inning of work, Smith gave up two runs on three hits, walked four batters and struck out eight.

The Wildcats are currently 15-1 overall and are in first place in the Class A Division 2 Area 6 standings at 6-0. They are currently on a 12-game winning streak and will try to extend that streak to 13 games when they travel to Cusseta, GA on Tuesday to take on Chattahoochee County. First pitch is scheduled for 5:30 p.m.
