Wildcats dominate Deerfield-Windsor in Albany

ALBANY – The Schley County Wildcats (SCHS) jumped out to an 8-0 lead early and would go on to dominate the Deerfield-Windsor Knights by the score of 10-2 on Monday at the Deerfield-Windsor School.
In total, the Wildcats scored 10 runs and pounded out 14 hits in their dominating performance.
SCHS got on the board in the top of the first when Trenton Stubbs drove in Jay Kanazawa on an RBI single. Then in the top of the second, the Wildcats scored two more runs on a hit and took advantage of an error and two hit batsman. The big hit of the inning came from Rylan Conner, who drove in a run on an RBI single.
Then in the top of the third, SCHS exploded for five runs on eight hits to take an 8-0 lead. Both Conner and Oscar Lloyd had RBI singles in this inning.
SCHS scored another run in the top of the fourth on an RBI single by Jake Little and would score their 10th run of the game in the top of the seventh on another RBI single by Conner.
The Knights scored two runs in the bottom of the fourth as the result of an error, but that would be all that DWS could muster.
Trenton Stubbs went 2 for 4 at the plate with an RBI and a run scored and JuJu Salazar also went 2 for 4 at the plate. Both Jake Little and Rylan Conner went 3 for 4 at the plate. Conner drove in three RBIs and Little drove in a run and scored two.
In addition to his offensive performance, Conner got the start on the mound for the Wildcats and went the distance. He gave up two runs on four hits and had eight strikeouts.
The Wildcats are now 20-2 overall and 10-0 in region play. They will host Tift County on Tuesday at 5 p.m.
