Mrs. Geraldine “Jerri” Smith Walker age 88, of Preston passed away Sunday, May 5, 2024 at her home. She was welcomed into heavens gates by her mother, father and siblings. A funeral service will be held May 8th, 2024 2:00 P.M at the Preston Baptist Church. Rev. Raymond Smith, Rev. Chris Hess and her granddaughter, Nikki Brannon will officiate the service. The family will greet friends from 1:00 P.M until service time. Interment will follow at Preston City Cemetery.
Mrs. Geraldine Walker was born April 5, 1936 in Bainbridge, GA, She was dedicated to her husband, Thomas Walker, who both shared unwavering and deep love throughout their life together. Her love for God and kindness left a lasting impact on everyone she met. Her greatest joy in life was spending time with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. She loved her church, its members, and reading her Bible. She found peace and joy within planting and growing flowers.
She is preceded in death by her father, Charlie W. Smith and her mother, Mae Smith. Also, her siblings James Russell Smith, Wendell Smith, Delores Tharp, Naomi Summers, and Virgil Smith.
Left to cherish her memory are her children, Brenda M. Smith (Ronnie), Ricky McCarley, and Teresa Mantooth. Her grandchildren, Ritchie McCarley (Christie), Nikki Brannon (Keith), Casi Harris (Brian), Melissa Mantooth (Nick), Melody Mantooth (Gene); her great-grandchildren, Nicole Mantooth, Aydin Hicks, Kyler Brannon, Baylor McCarley, Caroline McCarley and Callie Anna Harris.
She will always be remembered for her unwavering love and dedication to her family.
