Sumter County Track & Field All-Stars turn in high marks at GRPA state meet

- The Sumter County Track and Field All-Star Team turned in several top performances in the GRPA State Meet back in late April. COMMERCE, GA – Several members of the Sumter County All-Star Track & Field Team turned in high marks at the Georgia Recreation and Parks Association (GRPA) state meet at East Jackson High School in Commerce, GA back on April 26th and 27th.
In the boys’ 8U division, Sumter County took third place in the boys’ 4×100 Meter event. Ashton Mitchell, Mason Porter, Niguel Twiggs and Khori Martin were members of the 8U boys’ 4×100 Meter Relay Team.
In the boys’ 14U division, the Sumter County 4×100 Meter Relay team of Jordan Holmes, Jaydin Galloway, Jayden Durham and JaMarain Smith took third place in the event. Galloway also finished as the state runner up in the boys’ 800 Meter event and finished in second place in the 14U boys’ triple jump.
In the 12U division, DeAron Dowdell finished as the state runner up in the boys’ triple jump and Zi’Kayelynn Denmark ended up winning the girls’ triple jump event.
In the boys’ 10U division, Mason Savage finished in third place in the Shot Put competition and Kamarria Pitts finished in third place in the 8U girls’ long jump competition. Jaidence Kearse also had a fine performance at the state meet, as she came in second place in the 8U girls’ triple jump competition.
