American Legion John D. Mathis Post 2 Memorial Day Observances

James Wolf, commander of Post Two, reported on the American legion John D Mathis Post Two Memorial Day observances.

According to the national website: “The American Legion was chartered and incorporated by Congress in 1919 as a patriotic veterans organization devoted to mutual helpfulness.”

On Friday and Saturday, the post handed out more than 150 poppies at Lowe’s while receiving donations for the local Veteran’s Assistance Program. On Sunday, the organization participated in the Andersonville Memorial Day program, laying wreaths on behalf of the fallen. Post Two’s Memorial Day service was held at the Magnolia Manor Retirement Community.
