On June 16th at around 12:38 A.M Americus police officers were dispatched to the area of Bush Circle and E Furlow Street in Americus after a report of a shooting. The victim, Ja’Kavian Antwon Brown, age 22, received first aid from Americus Police officers along with a Sumter County Sherrif’s deputy until medical personal arrived on the scene. Brown was transported to Phoebe Sumter Medical Center where he was stabilized, after which he was sent to a trauma center.

The incident is under investigation, and the Americus Police Department is asking anyone who has additional information that could help in the investigation to call 229-924-3677 during business hours, or at 229-924-3677 after business hours.
