South Georgia Technical College (SGTC) Aircraft Structural Technology (AST) Instructor Jason Wisham and SGTC Recruiter Tylen Pepito had the opportunity to take students on a tour of Thrush Aircraft LLC in Albany, GA recently.

The SGTC officials and students were provided the tour of the Thrush Aircraft Manufacturing facility by John McDonald, Thrush’s Assembly Operations Manager.  Thrush is one of only two agriculture aircraft manufacturers in the world.

Wisham has placed nearly 20 different graduates at Thrush over the past five years.  Raven Jackson, a recent graduate, along with Hezekiah Gilbert are two of the newest SGTC hires at Thrush.  Second and third semester Aircraft Structural students Desmond Williams, Denver Lewis, Savannah Kendricks, and Blaker Kersey took part in the tour.

Thrush is currently producing approximately four aircrafts per month, costs ranging from $500,000 up to $1 million per aircraft.  The company has a well-rounded management team, a solid product line, and a wealth of experience in all areas of manufacturing and support.  Thrush ships aircraft to 80 countries, with 80% of the manufactured aircraft going overseas.  Currently Thrush has over 200 employees and plans to hire additional personnel in the next year.

The SGTC AST program is four terms and students have opportunities for exceptional careers with industries such as Thrush, Warner Robins Air Force Base, Boeing, Gulf Stream, Lockheed Martin and more.
